Basically, you find an available class, then fill out a registration form and return it to us with payment, but
there are some wrinkles that can catch people off guard.
- If you're signing up for a class outside the Portland area, you use a different registration
form, and pay a different price. The local coordinators of those classes take registrations
and eventually give us a list, so you should talk to them directly.
- Most of our classes fill up somewhere between two and eight weeks in advance, so be
ready for that possibility.
- If two class dates work equally well for you, put them on the same line and we will put
you in the less crowded one.
- If you are okay with a last-minute schedule change, spaces sometimes open up again in
the week or two before the class. (Though that doesn't leave you much time to study if
you haven't taken the class before.)
- If you're doing a recert, and you took PALS from us last time, we should have your
record in the computer. (Let us know if you've changed your name!) If you took it from
someone else last time, though, you'll need to fax us a copy of your current PALS card.
- If your payment is being p-r-o-c-e-s-s-e-d through a hospital or other bureaucracy, fax us
the form first. Otherwise the class may well fill in the meantime. Also, please fax us
something to show that you have started the process which will eventually get us paid.
- Checks should be made payable to OREF (Oregon Research and Education Foundation), but mailed to:
PALS PO Box 8553 Portland OR 97207-8553
- Make sure you're using the right year's registration form, or you may have the wrong
prices or even the wrong dates. Yes, that does sometimes happen.
- We know you're busy, but please print carefully on the form so we can get your name
and other information right.
