Our experienced faculty can travel to your facility in Oregon or southern Washington if you have a group of healthcare providers who need pediatric or neonatal training. We offer customized in-services on a variety of topics and practical skills, including PALS and STABLE. Please leave voicemail at 503-972-8947 to discuss timing, topics, etc. with Gina Craven, our course coordinator.
Individuals or groups who are in need of PALS instruction should see the following.
PALS was developed by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics to train healthcare providers who may need to resuscitate children. It focuses on recognition and initial care of unstable pediatric patients, but also covers the management of children who have already suffered arrest. Dr. Cynthia Cristofani brought PALS to Oregon in 1989, shortly after it was developed, and she has directed this PALS program since then. We have tried hard to offer an enjoyable and informative program; all of our faculty have a wealth of pediatric experience, and we continually adapt the course to reflect both the latest science and the needs of our students. We have developed PALS variants for outpatient practitioners and prehospital caregivers. Our courses are largely taught in small groups, and are fairly low-key despite the subject matter, in order to minimize stress and enhance learning. Our program is not currently a subsidiary of any hospital. We have long maintained an affiliation with the non-profit Oregon Research and Education Foundation, and we are now accredited for CME and CEU credit by Providence Health System. We welcome questions or comments about our program, this website, etc. You can email us at pals@pediatricfocus.org, or leave voicemail at 503-972-8947. Registrations can be faxed to the same number, or mailed to: PALS PO BOX 8553 PORTLAND OR 97207-8553 Thank you and good luck. We hope you are having an enjoyable fall.
